UPDATED below.......
" I know about the last 30 second bid ordeal but sometimes I am not around to catch it and those guys that beat you by 50 cents even when you do that.. irks me but it is what it is... "
____ I'm sure eBay knows that it only helps the seller to have bidders doing the 'leap-frog' type stupid bidding (as soon as possible), days before an auction ends,, but for those who can't be on-line at the time it ends, then it's certainly understandable that those bidders enter their best-bid sometime within the last 24-hours, (with fingers crossed!). _ But unless ya bid crazy-high, ya can be fairly sure that your early-bid will have only ended-up costing the winner to pay a buck more.
____ It's hard to say what that cover will go for... As you saw, that last one went unsold for the 30-buck start-price, yet also recently, a right-cover pair/set sold for over 100-bucks! _ So you better figure on going over 50-bucks on this (complete)-cover, if you really hope to win it.
__ I believe the same seller also has a whole 250-motor listed, that you might go for instead... Cuz if you could get it for under 300, then you could sell-off all your current motor-parts separately and then possibly break-even.
" I will keep my eye on this one as long as nobody on here goes after it as well "
____ Hopefully none of us here are such a jerk as to bid against you!
But you first really should confirm here that you do indeed intend to bid a serious-bid on it, in order to then expect any cooperation with letting you have it uncontested.
GoodLuck,
-Bob
FOLLOW-UP.....
____ Well Mike, I wonder why you never followed-up with some kind of request asking for us here to not place any bids on that cover ?
__ It's disapointing to realize that there are no doubt still a number of DUKE-people on eBay who are still unaware of this w.site, but since there are now more bidders on your found cover, I hope that it must be such as them who're bidding against you !
However if the newer bidders are any of us, they really can't be considered as jerks because, you never asked for any cooperation !
__ It's now at 36-bucks with less than 4-hours to go!
If you're still going for the cover, better bid over 50 but less than 75, (as there are others to be had cheaper).
____ Concerning the whole motor,, when I mentioned it, I had last seen it at just 100-bucks! _ Now it's over 700-bucks and no longer a good deal ! _ So I hope you weren't skipping on the cover in hopes of getting that motor.
Hopeful-Cheers,
-Bob

" because my shipper has lost my side case "
____ There were two or three of the oil-pump/R.side-covers listed last week, ending on Sunday I think,, did you bid & win any of them?
Or has that stupid shipper found yours by now? _ (As they ought to have a Lost & Found department.)
If not, here's still another for you to try on. ...

____ Even if it was for a 250, finding the other parts that work with it would be much harder to do, (not to mention the expense) !
I have all the parts you need, but keep looking for cheap ones.
DUKE-Cheers,

Re: oil pump/timing cover 250 monza question
" Just an FYI on this for the side plug.. I special ordered a 15mm off your recommendation and it is to large.. "
____ Maybe I was wrong about the exact size of all those plugs, (been over 20 years since I last had to twist one!).
When I stated the 15mm size, I was going on a memory from the '70s when I asked a Snap-On salesman visiting the shop, if he had a 15mm allen-wrench... He didn't at the time but, brought one to me (for 6.95) the following week!
After I got it, I recall that it fit the job which I had needed it for, on DUKEs ! _ So I HAD assumed that that job must have been for that crankshaft-hole plug. _ But now that you say otherwise, I'm now thinking that the job must have been for twisting fork-tube plugs!
Please check & see if your new hex-tool fits those caps.
Sorry!
-Bob
Talking of funny clutch cover plug sizes...the one on my 68 250 MK3D is a 13mm hex (definitely - not imperial or anything, not 14mm burred over). It is encryped AGIP F1 OLIO. Maybe this is the odd size DCT Bob was thinking of (rather than 15mm). Try and find a 13mm hex drive easily!!!

____ Now THAT is quite strange ! _ I don't think I've ever seen any such small size, except perhaps in an old 200, (but I still suspect that I've seen those plugs with the 15mm hex-recess size).
__ I do know that the sparkplug-socket which came in the original tool-kits were complete with an Allen-tip which was intended to fit the hex-recess of the pre-1966 oil-drain/filter-plugs, (whether 14 or 15mm, I don't now recall for sure).
____ BTW, it's nice to see that we have members bothering to read-through older threads and bring them back to life with additional posts.

Re: oil pump/timing cover 250 monza question
The most worthwhile tool to buy is the flywheel puller, I seperated my cases with a wood bumper accross the cases at the barrel opening, the clutch needs nothing to pull, I made up plate to lock the clutch, a rocker puller is simple to work out, cam holders are cheap, valve spring compressors are dear but an old one can be modified to do.
