Hello
I just bought a 250 WC head on Ebay and have two questions
1) There was no mention of this being a Mototrans head, but it seems different than my other heads. Will this work on my NC just like a Italian WC head?
2) It was sold as having a spring conversion. After I complained about the conversion the seller claims it is as delivered from Mototrans, but did Mototrans really deliver heads like this?? On the intake side the spring base was resting on the headcasting at an angle and on the exhaust side the spring base rested on the valve guide insted of on the head itself..

Re: Mototrans head from Ebay?
Mototrans did supply heads with coil valve springs as standard on their Strada, Forza and Vento models.
The outer coil springs were as used on 750GT and 860GT V-twins, and the inner springs were from the 350/500 GTL/GTV parallel twins.
Your photos make it hard to see if you have a Mototrans head or not. A few photos of the whole head would soon confirm if it is.

Thanks for the reply. Here is the complete head, seems to be a rougher casting than the Italian heads I have. Also the "locating dowels" are not there on my other heads.
So the sellers arguent that the head was delivered like this from Mototrans is not correct?

Certainly a Mototrans head. It could well have come like that from the Barcelona factory.

I have a mototrans 250 with coil valve springs, and I can confirm that the valve spring seats were indeed resting against the cylinder head casting! A little work with a Dremel sorts it out.
Cheers,
Colin

Re: Mototrans head from Ebay?
If the 0.007" off plumb boring of the cylinder muff is anything to go by and that was fitted to the late MotoTrans 350 engine I acquired crying "Enough!" after 1,400 miles. I would suggest anything MotoTrans should be regarded with the deepest suspicion, unless it's blethermaskite's 350. Lucky man.
Hope you can sort it out and start wearing it out.
Good health, BillR
