@blethermaskite I found the thread you mentioned and learned that @jordan states that the vertical bevel shaft length he has recorded for the-
450 wide case = 202mm.

Great news though I have the same follow up question as @HMBAtrail that did not get a response-

“Are these measurements from the underside of the top bevel gear to the end of the shaft or the total bevel shaft including the gear? And I'm assuming this is the measurement for just the upper bevel shaft and not the lower? Aren't all the wide case lower shafts the same length?”

From what points does one measure to determine the correct length? Perhaps once all the parts are removed, it’ll be obvious that the 202mm dimension can only be measured from obvious points…Thank you all for the great engagement and for sharing your collective knowledge.

It appears that I've answered my own question above regarding the length of the vertical bevel gear. For what it's worth, I have the head, barrel, bevel tube and vertical bevel gear all removed and separated.

The dimension of-

202mm for the 450 wide case

referred to by @blethermaskite and shared by @Jordan in a different thread is the TOTAL LENGTH of the vertical bevel shaft measured from the PEAK of the bevel gears to the BOTTOM of the semi circular base of the shaft. If I am not pulling my dimensions from the correct locations on the bevel shaft, I hope someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Slightly off topic- My engine came with both stainless steel and the stock, original head cylinder bolt set. I understand that some stainless bolts can stretch quite a bit more than "regular" steel. Does anyone here have any thoughts on the stainless vs. the stock set?
