Quiet on forum, Thought I would show my next project. 1953 Moto Morini 175 Turisimo. Frame and engine number 024. Possibly the oldest of this model in existance. Had a quick look and the signs are that crankcase has never been split. Speedo showing 12000 KM but I don't believe that yet

Can't do anything till I finish rewiring my friends Mondial 125 special (first photo) and sell my 125 Mondial and Benelli for funds.

It never ceases to amaze me just how much the Italian small motorcycle manufacturers used the same parts on completely diverse machines. I amused myself for years with the obscure Italian Moto Guazzoni bikes .......my 1959 175 'griffo' sport had exactly the same front forks,brakes, shocks, and even some of the tinware on your little Morini. Nice bike George.

Hi Bill hope you are not snowed in. Yes it amuses me when I hear people telling me that they must have a genuine part for their Italian bike when that same part is also on many other makes of machine. The rear shocks are wrong and are spaced wider at the bottom than the top. I have located the correct shocks with a clevis type bottom connection. Like all Italian parts they cost to much. But we all know our hobby is not cheap.

That is old! Very interesting project. Reminds me of a stunning little Morini that I saw at an old boy's motorcycle meet in Italy about twenty years ago. The Italians love to get their toys out on a sunny Sunday morning.

Well, like our good friend George, I too have an Italian, but none Ducati project on the bench. My first motorcycle in 1961 being a FB Mondial Sprint, and I could not resist the opportunity to own another when one turned at an auto jumble. A 1957 175 OHC TV, I am now in the process of obtaining a age related number, an inspector will be arriving on Monday too view the machine.
After which it will have a total strip down, and rebuild, and repainted in the correct colour.

I have just returned from a visit to the Ducati factory / museum, a most enjoyable experience.

Brian - a friend of mine has one somewhat like yours in his lounge, being stored for someone else. I can't remember whether the cam drive is chain or gear, although he did tell me. His is red all over from memory.

Hi Ian, as I understand the Turismo Veloce should be red and white, or Black and red. Only the TV Sport and Gran Sport were Silver and Blue. The cam drive is chain, I think mine is simplex , some have duplex.

To date my dalliance with small capacity Italian machinery has been the 1979 Moto Morini 125H that has graced the garage for near on 20 years and the ignition has caused no end of grief/angst, the machine is at present hidden under a cover at the back of the pack. Maybe later this winter, I'll disturb its slumber.

As for the snow, so far not a flake at the house, whilst a friend in Huntly has 10" at the house and lightning snow to boot last night (21/11/2024). Today went out for a spin on four wheels and took the hill road over from Loch Tummel into Glen Lyon, must be slightly ........! Nae bother on the south facing slopes, but the northern descent was a little different, with a 2 inch dusting and icy patches. No salt/grit, in case they loose the gritter! However, the run back down Glen Lyon, Fortingal, Aberfeldy and then home over the top was as bonny as ever and the reek from the keepers muir burning for the grouse was quite spectacular. At present it is dry, clear and frosty again. Tomorrow morning is when we expect to get buried, if at all, and then rained on and blown away. Hatches are all battened down and the firewood, candles and Tillylamp are all prepared.
