Hi Mike,

I think these were for a Benelli or some other bike. I believe that the width/length of the SAFA on eBay does not match the battery tray dimensions on the narrowcase.

Still though, I do like the idea of having a battery that has the SAFA logo on it.

____ I almost posted a fact about the battery (seen at the link-site), that it was not the same size as was used on most (stock) DUKEs,
(and if I had gone-ahead & done so, then Jim wouldn't have had to come-along & post his point concerning so)...
However, I would've also added that that battery is probably the same size as was used stock for 125-Bronco & 160M.Jr & 1966 250-SCR models.
__ Also, those old-type SAFA-batteries are nothing I'd ever want to deal with ever again ! ... As I still have a few of the (many) bad-memories of them (and those like them), which were one of the main dreaded-issues that would on (too many!) occasions -(back then), make me HATE having switched from bicycling to motorcycling !

Oops
sorry about that. I thought it looked right from the pics I had seen. thought the case would be nice to have so you could fit a modern battery inside.

I was tempted initially to paint my new battery black and make a stencil to put Safa on it, but never did get around to it.

regards,
Mike

Had a couple of these NOS Safa batteries. Both quickly died, may they rest in pieces.

http://www.guzzino.com/

sells a vintage battery looking box into which you can fit a modern battery: not cheap, though.

I thought someone sold a similar box marked Safa but darned if I can find it.

I wonder if Damien Birch of Bevel Rubber would consider a hard rubber empty rubber battery box or a softer and somewhat stretchable rubber box that fir the most common of battery trays and would bear the SAFA logo in a few choice spots. If SAFA is still in business then it would not be possible.

Maybe a better thing is just to get someone to print up SAFA stickers that could be placed on a black-colored battery.

In searching for the Safa logo I found that they are in business, but only make car and truck batteries. And the logo bears no resemblance to the one we want.

____ One disadvantage of those old batteries is ya couldn't see their water-level without taking them out & removing the caps to look inside (preferably with a flash-light) in order to see the levels. _ So who's so into that enough to want to go through that messing-around, anymore!?

____ Joe, of 'bsanut' (on eBay) already sells such !

In around 1972 I bought a new SAFA battery for my 1965 Sebring. The battery lasted a couple o' years.
My big gripe was no vent tube like Jap batteries, so every thing around that battery lost all paint and rusted like hell.
I even tried putting it in a plastic bag,and wasn't any better.
I wished I had kept it and hollowed it out for a smaller battery inside. Capt Paul
