Measurements seat Mark3 W/C 1968

Postby elmoi11 » Sat Mar 12, 2022 5:13 pm

Hello I am looking for a Ducati Mark3 W/C seat from 1968.

It is not easy to find and it would be very helpful if someone could provide me with photos of the iron base and the measurements in centimeters.

There are times when the seller of the seat does not know the model to which it belongs or the seat has been upholstered differently from the original.

With photos and measurements of the iron base, it would be easier for me to identify them.

Attached example photo.

Thank you very much to all.

Moses.

The seat shown is the correct curved shape for Mk3 models with this type of fuel tank, nicely integrated with it in side profile.
Later, with a restyled tank, the seat was flatter with a small hump at the back.
It may be that the steel base is similar for both seats, with the foam shape and vinyl cover different.
If an original foam were available, it could be re-shaped and a cover tailored to fit.

Hi Jordan.

Yes, it is possible, the chassis is the same. It may be that Ducati used the same steel base for the following models, changing only the upholstery.
But I can't find photos of the base of the seats to be able to compare them. Neither do the measurements of the base.

It would be nice to get photos and measurements of the seat base.

The foam and the cover could be done by a good upholstery professional.

Moises.

My own seat was sourced from a late model Mk3, but the base has been modified to suit the SCR frame that is the basis of my road bike.
The mounting points are not as standard.
However, the overall length is 63cm, and it is 22cm at the widest.

Hello everyone.

With the great help of Al, fellow motoscrubber, I received this seat that was for sale in France, at a very reasonable price.

The upholstery is horrible, but I'm hoping the base is the original 1968 Mark3 W/C.
I put some photos, to see if someone can compare the measurements with another Mark3 seat.

About:

Max length: 59cm.
Max width: 23cm.
Depth: 8cm.
Rear anchors: 13cm

Greetings.
Thank you very much.
