Hello and thank you for the add,
I have just become the custodian of a 1960 Elite/SS think it is one of the prettiest bikes ever built, I am in process of upgrading to 12V and electronic ignition to help starting, I also have a few smaller 2 stroke Ducatis SL1, Sport 48 ect although stunning to look at not very practical,
I am pleased to say the help and advice is brilliant re working on the bike, spares even suppliers have good advice,
Once the upgrades are finished I can't wait to have a ride once weather breaks in the meantime I'm getting to know the workings,

Regards Paul

Welcome Paul! Where abouts on the globe might you be?

Good health for 2022 and time to put the miles/kilometers under the tyres.

Welcome from me too, Paul.
I am currently a site member who needs more information than I can give, but that may change over time. As you have no doubt already seen there are many others (to whom I am already very grateful) who are great advisors for any problems you may encounter, and of course the site is a huge library of historical knowledge about these lovely bikes.

Hi Paul, and welcome to this excellent forum.
I also have a 200 SS, 1959, and yes they certainly are a beautiful looking little machine, especially when compared with other manufacturers offerings of the period.
I have converted it to 12 V, but retained the points and coil, as it's a system I understand in the event of any problems. It starts readily, and fortunately after all these years, I have retained the knack of using the left side kickstart, which my first motorcycle had in 1961.
Do you have any pictures, we all love seeing something new.

Amazed by the advice and help so can't wait to get out on a ride,

That looks to be a very nice machine. Keep us informed of progress. Having owned Goldstar's since I was 18, I have become quite astute at dealing with kickbacks. :o

Hi Brian, I have learnt the meaning of kicks like a mule, George say's the timing was maybe a bit advanced so that will be rectified in coming week or so, Just fitting the 12v stator at the moment then will turn to the other side for the electronic ignition (Laceys 5* service) then check the tappets suss out TDC and timing with a few practice feel for the TDC before kicking ain't going to get me again LOL, As you have gathered this is my first 4 stroke single with a kick start bit different to 50cc Italian 2 strokes but enjoying tinkering and learning with the added bonus of good advice when needed is out there and better still George is around the corner for visuals
I love my little 50cc bikes but this 200 has got me and I think it needs a partner, I need to sort out uploading a few pics,
In the meantime I will be buzzing around on an old Kawasaki Zephyr I just got recent cracking bike but dosn't stir the soul impulse buy (we all done it) so I think its got to go fancy a early Monster as a modern steed,
