Off hand, does anyone know the GE/Wagner/Philips/whatever brand part number for a 12v sealed beam bulb that fits in a 130mm headlight shell?

____ It's been many years since I last knew for sure but, I think the 6-volt sealed-beam was #4020 and the 12-volt was #4040 .
You should be able to get such a sealed-beam bulb at most any old Volkswagon-bus dealer or most any auto-junkyard.

____ I'm not sure about #4420 but, #4020 is quite familiar to me, as it was the standard S.B.bulb stock on DUKEs made for the U.S.A.!
Perhaps the exact numbers were not always standardized between GE & Sylvania & other brands?

__ The following are 6-volt PAR46 std.3-prong models...
#4020 = 30-watts;
#4031 = 45-watts;
#4067 = 50-watts ...
__ The following are 12-volt versions of the same sealed-beam type...
#s 4000; 4000A; 4000T; 4003 & 4040 = 37.5-watts ;
#s 4002; 4002A; 4002R; & 4005 = 50-watts ;
#4000R = 60-watts .
I'm sure that there also used to be a 45-watt 12-volt version, (perhaps the 4420 you found?).

The local bike shop should have a 12V sealed beam. Looks like some Harleys use a 5-3/4" so I suspect they should not be that hard to track down. I like to be prepared with part numbers before I go in.

Things are not always as they seem when looking at the sealed beams. I've gone down this road with the assistance of Dewcatea Bob too, and they didn't fit right. Please let me know if yours works? thanks mgl.

Were you replacing a sealed beam with a sealed beam? I am just switching from 6V to 12V.

My 350 Mototrans had a 12v bulb in it even though the bike was still 6v.
Whoever put it in must have used an automotive bulb. They had to cut a notch in the rim to accommodate the little alignment nib on the glass.
The number on that bulb was 4000

Good to know.
My current light has a sealed beam in it already - just need to change voltage. Would not expect any "fitting" to be required.

_____ Mike had told me he has a wide-case 250Mark-3 (which he had acquired incomplete with parts), so I then assumed that his headlamp-setup was the standard USA-type which were stock with the #4020 sealed-beam bulb. _ But after I had guided him toward the 12-volt version, it was then figured that he must have a European-type headlamp-rim.
(I'd suggest that perhaps you guys might do some parts-swapping.)
___ Besides the Italian & USA versions for headlamp light-bulb set-ups, there was also the British-type of 'sealed-beam' -(which was actually just a non-replaceable bulb mounted within a sealed one-piece lens & reflector unit), plus the British version of the Italian/European set-up (with separately replaceable light-bulb; bulb-holder; lens & reflector).
I've handled 3 (of the possibly 4) different types of headlamp-rims made for fitting each of these different types of lighting set-ups to the common headlamp-shell/bucket.
__ I guess Mike & I never did get just what it is that he has, all straightened-out.
This would be a good thread for us all to show_&_tell exactly what we have for headlighting-mountings -(inside rims), on our DUKEs!
____ As a side-note for those of us with any of the DUKE-models which employed the dim alternator-powered headlights,, I also found within my old-notes, that there was a special sealed-beam made for them... It was numbered: '4036' . _ (I never found one to try-out for myself, however.) _ It was noted to be fully-bright even at low-RPM !
