Is the Haynes Manual Worth Getting?

OK, it turns out that I do have the Ducati Shop Manual. My wife found a PDF of it somewhere and downloaded it. It seems a little skimpy and brief so that's why I didn't think I had it but it's the same one people are selling as the factory service manual. Now I'm wondering if the Haynes manual is good to get as an addition to it. Is there a Clymer manual as well?

Any opinions? Thanks!

Any manual is good, even a Haynes one. None are perfect, but each has some info not covered in another, so get them all if you can.
There are 2 different Clymer manuals that I'm aware of - the earlier one being pretty much just a reprint of the factory workshop manual.
There's a supplement that applies to that one, to update it to cover desmo models and widecase models, including 450.
There are some manuals here at Motoscrubs, and more at Ducatimeccanica to download.

DUCATI FACTORY WORKSHOP MANUAL: 160cc, 250cc & 350cc NARROW CASE, SINGLE CYLINDER, OHC MODELS

Very good if this is the one you already have as a PDF.

Also avaialble on Amazon, eBay, and some Ducati related sites:

http://www.amazon.com/DUCATI-FACTORY-WO ... 643&sr=8-1

120 pages, about 7mm or 8mm thick, written by (Fred) Clymer. The writing style is terse and it is densely packed with info. He doesn't belabor even the critical info, so you need to read and reread carefully to be sure you don't miss something important. It goes through a full narrow case engine tear-down. Most of the tolerance limits are in there, but I don't believe shims and gear mesh are included... I could be mistaken.

I reference this book and the spare parts catalaog most.

You can (painstakingly) download each page of the spare parts catalog as a jpeg, compile them into a PDF, and print a hard copy.

I keep those two in my work area and they are getting dog eared and oil stained.
