Threaded Rocker Adjusters

On stripping down the cylinder head of my TS175, I think I found out why the bike was parked up all that time ago.

The ball on the end of the inlet valve rocker adjuster had seperated, and was lying in the bottom of the rocker box. Is this a common problem? I slotted the ball back in then gave it a tap which should hopefully sort it...

Or will it? Anyone had this happen? Does this sort of fix work?

Hi,

I don't know if it is a common problem, but I have had one flip over when I was setting the valve clearances. I would assume that once in place and with the correct clearance, that the ball would stay in place. Any opinions?

Cheers,

Colin

I had this problem years ago with a 175 where the 1/2 ball had 'escaped' but I couldn't put it back in place because its housing had actually a bit broken out of it, at the time it was simple and I just got a new replacement. I am guessing here, but I suspect if your valve clearances get too wide the ball starts to get 'hammered' and either gets loose in its housing or in my case it will break the housing. I probably wouldn't use the one you are describing and source a replacement. Cheers George
