Is there a magic method to reassemble the selector box, especially the pedal return spring?
I’ve fitted the spring onto the pedal shaft a couple of times but the spring wants to ping itself off every time. I have even managed to get the adjuster plate fitted but the whole thing flies apart if it gets a jolt, so I am struggling to work out how fit it back into the casting, and then get the other bits in as well.

Re: Selector box assembly
Hi Ian,
I feel your pain, it is a disgusting, filthy job, which I have done more times than is healthy. I put the splined shaft through the bush, attach the end of the return spring, and then put the 'coffin' plate on and rotate the return spring tension with it, get the end over the locating pin and push and hold the assembly together. I then bolt on the gear lever to keep it all in place and then fit the detent plate and the tension spring and shims and get the cover on with one screw in place to hold it all together, tighten up and check operation. Then clean my hands!
Cheers,
Colin

Re: Selector box assembly
Thanks. Using the gear lever to hold it together is obvious when you look at the diagram, although not so obvious I could see it for myself!
I did it slightly differently by assembling the 3 pieces and then keeping them together with a couple of cable ties until I could fit to the outer case.
All back together now, just need a test ride.
