Some on here might remember a post I made about 18 months ago showing a photograph of a broken tooth on the crankshaft bevel drive gear.....
Well.... after a heavy plundering of my bank account, my '75 360 Mk3 is back on the road...... well, still needs some fine tuning, but essentially there, with many thanks to Mr Nigel Lacey (without whom etc etc).
As Nigel and Edina are probably loading their parts store into the back of a large transporter as I type, I'll ask a question of this group.....
I've just given the bike a 40 mile run on fresh 20/50 Comp 4, to discover a spray of oil on my FRONT mudguard along with some on the front edge of the petrol tank. It looks to come from a possible split 2/3rds of the way up the tacho drive cable (which was very oily).
There should be a slotted disk in the take-off drive in the head, but on my bike it's missing. A parts listing suggests it's a gasket. Might this disk be there to stop the oil (any suggestions on a substitute) or might there be another solution?
Here's a screen snip from the parts book, the disk is marked; 92.050, the Ducati part number I assume.
Many thanks and Happy Spring to you all (obviously not to the Southern Hemisphere contingent).
Phil

Re: Strange place for an oil leak
Hi Phil,
Yes we are wildly busy at the moment, stock checking, packing and trying to finish the new website for Doug! Just a couple weeks hiatus and sales should resume as before! Contrary to some circulating rumours, we are not going out of business or ceasing trading! If anyone isn't aware of the changes within our business, I will share details here in a day or so....when time permits.
The later bikes with the "integral" tacho drive don't use that thrower disc. If the oil is going up the cable, then the tacho drive seal is leaking. You will need to strip the tacho drive to remove the seal from the brass part with the thread on it.
Regards Nigel

Thanks for that Nigel. You're right, I do have the later integrated tacho drive, so you've saved me a few quid on buying a used disk from Europe, I should have realised that the Haynes diagram showed a different layout.
You won't know what to do with all that new workshop space, don't fill it with bits of Stag now

Thanks again
Phil
