Aye Graeme,
That looks like a comfy bike.
No airs and graces, no head on the tank and bum in the air stuff, just "comfy"!
Off for a canter on the SRX, 450 rebuild underway, as I have all the bits, will post more later.
Toodle pip, Bill

Bit like Scotland in the autumn, with a touch of Antarctic chill and the "Roaring Forties" at times I expect?

Yes it can get cold, wet and windy in winter being stuck out in the southern ocean.
A warm house and shed are a must.
It’s a nice place with good people and excellent roads for singles

What a lovely looking bike you have there Graeme, a 450 if I'm not mistaken?
The cosmetics are very similar to my 250

At last she is running, but I have to fix an oil leak at the oil collection manifold banjo bolts and resolve some administrative issues before I can get her on the road. Happy days!
Cheers,
Al

Hello Al,
Yes a 450.
The “cosmetics” are very similar but mine has added rust, mud and cow shit.
My others are restored and shiny like yours, but the scrambler is the easiest to live with especially during winter on dirty roads and muddy tracks.
Yours looks very well finished. You will enjoy it when it’s sorted and on the road.
Graeme

I'm certainly looking forward to it! The oil leak should be easy enough to sort. The administrative issues perhaps more difficult and time-consuming. She has had her fair share of the same substances as yours in the past.
Cheers,
Al

Graem, I've spotted a modification on your 450 which tells me that we may share a common problem (we may even share the love for the same boots, not completely unlikely) which you solved by adding a sheet metal stripe to the right hand side foot rest. I took the liberty to copy your idea. Also I can report that your advice using a reed valve seems to solve my oil leak problem.
All the best!
