yoke bearings keeps losing adjustment

Hi folks,
Each time I take my bike (250 mk3 1974) out for a test ride I have to adjust the yoke bearings, there is always a fair bit of movement when push pulling the forks.
Maybe I am not using the correct procedure, i start by slackening off the 6mm Allen bolt on the top yoke that pinches the bottom yoke stem, I then tighten the top nut until play has been removed. I bounce the front end and turn it a few times to check then tighten the 6mm allen bolt.
Take it for a ride then repeat again...can't keep doing that.
The ball bearings were all renewed, plenty grease used., bearing cups good condition.
Any advice?

Regards

Correct but also loosen the pinch bolts on each fork leg (top triple clamp)
Tap or tighten the top central nut so the top clamp moves down to take up slack.
Then re tighten everything.
The top triple clamp moving down should stop the bearing adjustment nut moving and slackening your adjustment.

Thanks Graeme,

I now see I should have slackened the top fork clamps otherwise the whole top yoke cant move down...what a nutter :)
Thank you very much
