My, it was good to get out yesterday ...



My little run of a hundred kms or so marked the end of an 11 month lay-off, what with the gearbox bearing collapsing, me breaking my collar bone and then the Covid clamp-downs.

So, many, many thanks to Jon Peglar of this Parish for re-building the engine - and, it would seem, unleashing a couple of extra horses in the process. Thanks, Jon.

I've seen a few 'better than normal' ones pop up for sale in Spain recently. But one's enuf for me ...

When I woz young.......I ran Velocettes, along with my pals Steve and Frank, and like most young guys we thought that the roads were a race track, and I lost count of the times that one of us would forget to flip up the side stand and almost end up in the bushes at the first left-hander; when I look back it was a miracle that we survived. It ceased to be a worry when I started with Ducatis, because they only had main stands.

No wonder manufacturers fit cut-out switches these days.

Good to hear your injury is good enough to get out on your bike.
And the bike looks good.
Question,
Side of the rear tyre looks like evidence of chain oil has been flicked off.
Try Putolin Ceramic chain spray, it doesn’t flick off, isn’t sticky (dirt doesn’t stick to it) and does as good a job at lubricating chains as any other stuff I have used.
Spray can blue and silver with a yellow cap.
The spray lube is white.
Has worked for me for many years on many bikes. No more wiping off tyres and wheels.

Still trying to set up a MKII Amal on my 450 MKIII! I will post an update once I resolve the saga.

Been out for local runs in bright, clear, crisp conditions and without lashings of brine on the road! I suspect that'll change by the end of this week. Temperatures not rising above 5°C at the moment.

Pleased the shoulder is healed and gaining strength and the bike is looking good.

Sidestands, that's all I have on the Ducati and the SRX's, so you have to get the brain in gear for the pre-flight check! Also the change from left-hand gears to right-hand gears!

Graeme's chain lube works for me too.
