Anybody have a picture of the rear connection of the battery strap on a wide case 350 Scrambler? Probably it is the same on a 250. I seem to be missing something on mine.

I have the strap. I need to know how the strap fastens at the rear. To the frame or another piece of hardware? It seems that I'm missing something.

The strap fits directly to the metal battery tray welded to the frame. There should be lip at the rear and a bracket at the front that the mudgaurd bolts onto. Sorry I thought you were missing the strap ends. I'll take a photo of the rear lip tomorrow.

I was looking at the same thing on my scrambler yesterday. There seems to be two types of battery strap, with either a screwed end and a wing-nut, or a G-shaped wire hook on the rear end. I have the G-shaped one, which (with a little careful bending) fits nicely into one of the holes on the tray. The other type should also fit the same hole. Photo attached (I think). Hope that is helpful.

Thank you. The picture shown is the same tray that I have on my Scrambler. I assume that the hook fits into the large hole in the tray. The problem that i have is that the rubber strap doesn't seem be long enough to stretch over a B38 battery that is supposed to be fitted to a W/C Scrambler. I'm not sure that all B38 batteries are the same size. I don't think that the strap shown will work with the wing nut type attachment which I believe is used on the N/C bikes.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you, I see someone else has already provided a picture, but I'll add the photos anyway. See below the photos of a Scrambler frame (rusty and with the rear of tray bent down) and my Mk3, both are the same as are most W/C straps.





The rubber strap should be the correct length for the B38 battery and they should all be the same size. The loop of the strap goes over the rear part of the tray with the pin part of it in the hole. You will also need the tray as shown on my Mk3.

As you can see from my Mk3 I just use a commercial Hoover belt to hold the YTX7-L 12v battery that I use. I've always used these on race bikes and old habits die hard. I'm not bothered about originality as long as it looks reasonably period.

The metal strap was used on the Narrowcases and the early W/C bikes. The strap is fairly self explanatory, with the thread going through the hole in the rear of the tray and the bar under the loops at the front. The metal strap will probably only fit the early Safa type Battery (with the top cover) whereas the rubber strap should fit the B38 battery. Any other battery will require modification/packing of the strap or the use of a more generic strap.

Thank you Nigel. My tray is the same and I purchased the correct battery strap. It looks like it will have to be stretched quite a bit for the B38 battery. The strap is new and maybe with a hair dryer I can heat it up enough to fasten it. Thank you again for the pictures.
