Replacement Bearings

Postby tricolormonster » Sun Aug 01, 2010 4:39 pm

It would be cool to have a concise list of modern replacement bearings for our older bikes.

Maybe a sticky topic that is a list of modern replacements of the old bearings. Just a thought.

For now, I'm looking for a particular one.

Top Bevel Gear bearing. DPN# 75243.1542 RIV 02 AJ ∅15x∅35x∅11 (Double rows)
Does a modern replacement exixt out there?

Hi Stu

i am using a SKF 1202 ETN9 in there . the 1202 is a self aligning double row bearing
the ETN9 stands for a polyamide bearing cage . i used bearings with a steel cage
first but the steel cage disintegrated . never had any problems with the ETN9

the same bearing from FAG is called a 1202 TV

have a look at E Bay item nr 220645013077 for a bearing with a polyamide cage
and at item nr 140209397978 for a bearing with a steel cage

____ Very good topic-matter Stu !
And I'm sure that Eldert is as up-on this issue as anyone else here.

Here is a list that I compiled from another web site that I cannot find now, otherwise I would give them credit. I also listed the bearing manufacturer that I recently purchased through a local dealer. Some of these were really expensive - the 1202 was $53 ! I hope it is the correct one. The formating is messed-up, so bear with me while i figure this out.

Ducati 250 Narrowcase Bearing LIST

Engine Bearings Qty Bearing Number Seal Special Manufacturer
Main Bearings 2 6206 No NSK 6206C3
Cam Shaft 2 6202 No NSK 6202C3
Upper Tower Shaft 1 1202 No SKF 1202 ETN9
Bevel Gear 2 7202B No Steel Cage MRC 7202
Main Shaft Chain Sid 1 6204 2RS Rem one seal ORS 6204 2RS
Lay Shaft Clutch Side 1 6204 No Same as above
Lay Shaft Chain Side 1 6203 2RS Rem one seal ORS 6203 2RS
Outer Crank Shaft 1 6203 No Same as above
Clutch Housing 2 16004 No SKF 16004

It would be great if someone could verify these, just to have a second set of eyes.

the only thing i can add is if you wanne use a bearing with a Phenolic cage for the mains
AKN ( and i think FAG to ) call that bearing a 6206 TB / P63
and this list is narrowcase only . widecase use one bigger 6306 bearing with a circlip and late widecase 2 6306 bearings

all widecase engines use a 6306 main bearing with a snapring in the lefthand crankcase . i am pretty sure that

wow I would have figured the opposite.. I think of polyamide as a nylon/plastic.. how it holds up better than steel impresses me as i thought the heat and oil would break them down.. Thank you for this list. Cant wait for a final version as I was ordering bearings one by one...

Also working on a list myself for all the hex bolts as I am on a Ti kick and wanted to replace them all but we shall see price wise

Hi Guys,

I'm starting a fresh 350 Engine build with new bearings all around.

So, I'm kinda re-viving this topic with this little question...

what are the thoughts/experience on ceramic bearings as replacements? Besides expense.

"No $***$ place in a Duc!" or "Go for if you can afford it."

Do they even hold up under engine type loads?
I'm clueless on this subject...so I ask.. :D

Nigel Lacey sells the Polymide caged bearings so they must be ok, thats whats in my motor. I think poly cages are used in the 900 motors too in preference to metal cages.
