Exposed spring shocks

Hi

I'm looking at all the parts I have for a '66 250Mark 3. I have two different types of shock spring preload collars. One lot is chromed and the other looks like the same coating as on the engine or rear set mechanism.
Am I correct in assuming that exposed chrome springs should have chromed preload adjuster collars?

Thanks

David

Thanks guys

This could be the first of many questions. I packed the 250 in boxes 30 years ago. Then life, wives & kids got in the way. Now I'm retired and looking into those boxes. The engine is almost finished - valve lapping is probably all that's left. Then the rest has to be restored.

Bought the 250 when I was 18 and headed out to college.

Out of all the adjustment levers (those wire things) I have, and have seen through the years, I've never come across chromed ones. But a lot of photos now show them chromed

Just a comment
