Monza Based Mach1 Replica?

This is 20 miles up the road from me so I thought I'd go and take a look. Seller says he has no "original documentation" at all but seems genuine and more than willing to show me the bits.

Though maybe some can tell from these pics, I'll take a camera and - as long as he doesn't mind - some photos. So I'm wondering -
1: any advice on what to look for or photo to determine what the machine was originally manufactured as
2: lots of the major components look right for a Mach1 e.g. suspension, headlight and and top yolk (triple-tree?) so what would remain as a tell-tale that it's a replica - apart form performance. Are the engines dimensionally the same? Could a person pop in a Mach1 motor or even rebuild the existing one with Mach1 cam and piston and end up with a "real" Mach1.
Thanks in advance for all help, suggestions and advice.
Cheers
Brian
