Monza 250 kick start: small ball bearing?

the kick start has a long lever and a short pivoting lever at the end that your foot applies force to. This lever can pivot thru 90 degrees and seems unrestrained from doing so. On removing the circlip and the lever, it seems that there might have been a ball bearing in there once which would make the lever click into place in either the in or out position. I can't find anything in the workshop manual.

Does anyone know anything about this?
thanks

Parts book is your solution. See below. This is from the wide-case book, but the narrow-cases are the same. I've added the part numbers, just in case. The ball is 3/16" diameter, the spring - well, just find something that fits :) . Needs to be tightly wound/pretty strong, mind.

excellent, many thanks. And it shows a washer under the circlip, also missing here. Hopefully this will be an easy fix.

This washer is described as a rondella di fermo - which translates literally to 'lock washer'. Which at first sight doesn't make a lot of sense ... but when you think that it's purpose is to 'snug' the circlip up against the lever, it does.

I use wave washers like this:

for the small spring, part no. 330 in the above diagram, part no. C-580 from the Century Spring Company, centuryspring.com, turns out to be absolutely perfect. I had to cut it down a bit. The pivoting lever now has the perfect click on moving it in and out.
