lower bevel gear set 450D

Hi all,

recently a friend of mine dropped his 450 wide case engine on my workbench, for a reassembly/repair. It is a kind of puzzle, because it came totally stripped down into pieces. Because our long-term relationship I could not decline.
Meanwhile, most of the work is done, but at least one question needs to be answered: do we have the proper lower bevel gear set, that means, is it's shaft length the right one? I compared the part to a 350 bevel gear set from my spare engine - it was identical. This confirmed my doubts. Btw, the corresponding Ducati part number (450) is 0615.29.600, which differs from those for the ulterior similar 250 or 350 parts.
So, does any member here have such part at hand, and can measure the shaft length, and additionally count the no. of teeths? My 350 shaft features 59mm. Anyway, dimension L goes from the bevel gear's back face upto the upper face of the shaft, at the beginning of the coupling area (see figure).

many thanks in advance

I had a 450 with a variation on the gear shape, that wasn't as my smaller singles.
The outer edge had a reduced diameter, I think to provide clearance for a larger main bearing.
It might explain different part number?
Notice it is ground cylindrical, not coming to a sharp edge:

Hello Hans

My 450 lower bevel is the same as your measurement.

Jordan and Greame,

thanks a lot.
My friend and my had obviously mixed up part numbers from upper and lower bevel shafts. It became now clear, that the length of the lower shaft is equal for all models. But, there are two versions - outer diameter shaped cylindrical (dia. 50mm), or unmachined (dia. 53mm). This modification was necessary due to the reinforcement of the main bearings (large diameter, greater width), introduced by the factory for 350 and 450 models, at least.
