Hi there.
I have been toiling with my 1965 Monza Jr. off and on for the past 2 years. I paid $100.00 CDN for it from a backyard and it had been stored under a BBQ cover for abour 35 years. Prior to that it had been found in a dumpster outside a steel factory in Hamilton Ontario. The original frame was bent beyond repair so the motor is sitting in an NC frame I puchased about a year ago. The piston was mofidied by a cyber-friend in Edmonton per Tom Bailey's book:

Forunately, after many nights of tinkering, I was able to get her to fire last night after 37 years.
The link to the video is here:

She kicks-over twice: once at 6:20 and then again at the end.
I did notice on the last start-up that the drive sprocket was spinning so perhpas much of my 11:00 minutes of frustration could have been avoided if I had checked to see if it had slipped out of neutral! C'est la vie.
Thanks for looking in and I will check the boards for information on carbs. It still has the original D'ellorto unit which may need to be replaced, even though I have refurbished it.
All the Best,
Andrew

Good for you- taking something thrown away as junk and bringing it back to life. In the day of Ebay 'pickers' most of these bikes are torn to pieces to make some easy money, ruining most of the parts in the process. I have a Sebring tank, same shape as the round 160- if you need it, it's yours for the cost of shipping- probably have more 160 parts around.

Thanks Rick.
What a kind offer. I will take you up on it since there is an annual Paris Rally here in Ontario Canada and there are usually a few ducati barn finds to be had.
The tanks are usually damaged. Can you PM for the cost of shipping?
Also, I forgot to mention a big thank you to Dave Chrone at Ducati Phoenix for his cases. The existing ones had some pretty serious collision damage, as did the rest of the bike.
The only other thing I am looking for right now is a bucket and headlight in the 7-8" range. Doesn't have to be stock becasue I will be installing a new speedo due to, you guessed it, damage.
Thanks for the help,
Andrew

Andrew,
I tried sending a PM, twice, but they don't show up in the PM Sent or Outbox folders, so I doubt if it's working- try sending me a PM with your address- I don't want to put my email address in a public forum- bots are everywhere

When is this Paris Rally? I'm in Ontario myself, but haven't lived here too long; so I'm not usually aware of such events..
I have a 66 Monza Junior that I'd be willing to sell for parts, but it's a real basket case; so I doubt you'd be interested.

The Paris Rally is usually on the Father's Day weekend, at least it was in 2014.
Here is the link:

As far as the 160 goes, do you have the header exhaust pipe? Not too concerned about the muffler though.
Let me know.
All the Best,
Andrew

UPDATE: Timing really is everything.
So I did a rough timing based on the manual and she fired second kick.
There is still a lot of tuning to do with the timing. Possibly I will need new points and a spark advancer, backfiring, general idle issues, etc.
But, smoother than before in the video and definitiely on the right track. I will be following the timing article in the Tech section this weekend. Looks like it could take that long!
