Hi all
The tech section mentions dating fork legs by the numbers stamped on the brake plate boss. My 175 Silverstone Super has the number 1450 with the 5 in an elongated "D" shape. Any clues as to what this refers to?
Cheers

Re: Dating Fork Legs
Hi Stu,
Since there are no replies to your question I will venture to guess that the code is probably meaningless as far as dates are concerned when it comes to your model. If I am not mistaken your bike is probably late 50s? I hope someone here knows if there is a meaning to what was stamped into your forks.
I hope you will post a photo of your bike for everyone to enjoy and lust after. The model name "Silverstone" appears in books I have read but then so do dragons and vampires and those are mythological. To a large degree, having never seen a Silverstone in real life and few in photos, the famed Silverstone is a myth as well as it is a legend to me.
I would imagine the motorcycle you have is something that's probably quite rare regardless of any country it would be appear in.
Welcome to the forum.

Re: Dating Fork Legs
Hi Jim
I've posted a couple of photos in the photo gallery section. There is also a short video of it starting up for the first time

To be honest the Silverstone Super looks almost identical to a 175 ss but had more compression, a bigger carb and I believe a different cam, this was done by "Kings of Manchester", the importers at the time. The main visible difference is the graphics on the sidepanel, I was lucky enough to have the originals with enough graphics left to make an accurate copy, see below.
Cheers
