Cam Change on 350 Scrambler

Postby frankfast » Tue Feb 01, 2022 4:16 pm

As mentioned in a previous post, I substituted a 250 white Scrambler cam for the original worn green/white cam on my '71 350 Scrambler. Would any changes need to be made on the valve timing gears to accommodate this change? I'm also using a Mark 3 piston. Also, since I don't have specs on advance timing for the 350, would this cam change affect ignition timing? Thanks.

Although I am no expert, I wouldn't have thought so. I made the same change on my Mototrans 250 and kept everything the same, and it runs great, with a wide spread of power and good torque, although you might notice a lack of power at higher revs.

Let us know how you get on,

Colin
